POONCH: Poonch XI outplayed Stadium XI by five goals to four (5-4) in an exhibition hockey match, organised by Poonch Brigade to Government Stadium, Poonch on Thursday.
The both the teams scored four goals each in the stipulated time and the fate of the game was decided by penalty shoot-outs during which Stadium XI was able to net the ball four times while Poonch XI converted five of the chances to make it 5-4 in their favour and won the match.
Later, Chief Guest, Commander Poonch Brigade, N.S Brar handed over the sports equipment to Poonch Stadium.
The commander praised the sports culture of Poonch and asked the youth to move ahead with big dreams.
“The aim of this project was to spread a message of goodwill and sportsmanship in Poonch. Provision of sports equipment will go a long way in encouraging spirit-de-corps amongst the youth of Poonch and will play a vital role in bringing communities together, having a social and cultural impact amongst the youth of the border town,” Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta, said.
