POONCH: District Poonch and Jammu bagged the under-14 and under-19 titles respectively in the annual inter-district UT level Hockey Tournament which was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Synthetic Hockey Astro Turf, here on Saturday.
In Under-14 final, Poonch defeated Pulwama 4-0. Kanisha Puri scored two goals while Japneet and Seerat contributed one each. Similarly, in under-19 title clash, Jammu trounced hosts Poonch by similar 4-0 margins. Anjali played well with two goals while Komal and Jhanvi were other scorers.
Station House Officer Surankote, Mukhtiar Ahmed was chief guest in the finals, who presented the title trophies. He encouraged the girls to strive for excellence not only in sports but also in academics for a balanced growth.
The competition officiated by the technical panel including Rajinder Singh Toofan, Harmik Singh, Ruchika Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Mohd Shokat ,Ritika Sharma and Kavaldeep Singh.
