High levels of air pollution in Indian cities continue to be a cause of concern for the health of its citizens. A sharp rise in the number of vehicles on the roads has made the picture very grim. Remedial measures are required to bring about a perceptible change in the air quality.
Polluting industrial units should be shut down, public transportation system should be strengthened and green technologies must be introduced to curb vehicular pollution. Efforts must also be on to strike a balance between development and protection of the environment.
