JAMMU: Asserting that lock down of the NIT campus Srinagar was no solution in the ugly turn of events in the institution a as fallout of the T20 world cup match, Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP and former Minister, on Saturday sought strict action under law against all those who indulged in anti-national activities inside the campus.
He said that all those who raised Pro Azadi slogans, celebrated the defeat of India in Semfinals of world cup, pelted stones on those raising pro India slogans besides indulging in India bashing were required to be booked for sedition besides other provisions of the Ranbir Penal Code.
He further condemned the burning of Tricolour and raising of pro Pak slogans in Dental College Jammu by some notorious elements and sought invocation of relevant provisions of law against the delinquents and ridiculed the concerned police officials for invoking insignificant provisions of Sec 323 (simple hurt) and Sec of RPC 506 (criminal intimidation) against them as an eye wash.
Questioning the culpable silence of the BJP leaders over the highly seditious acts committed in NIT Srinagar and Dental College Jammu, Harsh said that if the saffron brigade had created a country wide furore and a national issue out of the JNU episode then why the anti-national activities in J and K were being hushed up and thrown under the carpet with the anti-nationals especially in Kashmir being allowed immunity from legal action. He deplored that on several occasions also during BJP-PDP joint rule, several anti national elements were allowed to go scot free despite their highly seditious activities which had emboldened such elements all across the State.
He regretted that the BJP which indulged in a lot of chest thumping and made tall claims of ‘Zero Tolerance’ against anti national activities had crossed all limits of timidity and greed to retain the title of Junior partner in the PDP led govt.
Seeking the invocation of Sec 124-A (Sedition) and Sec 121 relating to waging / attempting/ abetting to wage a war against State against the offenders, Singh further sought adequate security to those students of NIT Srinagar who were attacked for raising Pro India slogans.
Cautioning the BJP to refrain from abusing the mandate of Jammu people, he called upon the mandated leaders to rise to the occasion, to assert in the wake of growing secessionism and to withdraw from the Agenda of Alliance, the highly dangerous clauses relating to vacation of land from Army, review of Disturbed Area Act, Phased revocation of AFSPA and treating the Hurriyat and Separatist as stakeholders. He warned that any further surrenders and pusillanimity on the part of BJP would cost the Saffron Party its postal address in the next elections.
