Police XI scripts win, enters final of T20 Cup

JAMMU: Senior Police XI on Saturday registered emphatic win to pave way for the final of the 3rd New Year Masters Twenty20 Cricket Cup, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Transport Department at Parade Ground, here.
Earlier, Police XI made it an outright victory against Doordarshan XI beating latter by nine wickets. Batting first, Doordarshan XI scored 110 runs for the loss of six wickets. Vicky (38), Dutta (26) and Vikas (23) remained maximum scorers. Shamsher took three wickets while Kuldeep bagged two for Police XI. In reply, Police XI overhauled the target in 15.1 overs for the loss of just one wicket. Former Ranji cricketer, Rajesh Gill played fine innings of 74 runs while Anand contributed 20 runs. Girdari took only wicket for Doordarshan XI.
Later, Rajesh Gill was adjudged Man of the Match. Sanjay, Sandeep and Vinod comprised the technical panel in today’s match.
Retired Inspector General of Police (IGP), Gulzar Singh Slathia was Special Guest, who was introduced with the teams by Senior Police Officers (SSPs), R.K Bhat, Ramesh Kotwal and Rajesh Gill, who is also Coordinator for the Tournament. The Special Guest appreciated the State Transport Department for promoting the sports by way of organising cricket tournament for masters and those budding talent. Fixture: Senior Police XI shall take on Parade Sports Association in the final at 9:30 AM tomorrow.
