Police recovers stolen 132 bags of sugar

RAMBAN: Police on Saturday recovered 132 bags of sugar from the driver, who was contracted to deliver the same at Srinagar.
According to a report, on 5th April 2015, a truck No. PB06F- 2657 was seized under section 550 RPC by police party of Banihal Police Station at Shawanbas, Banihal. During investigation, owner of truck namely Jaspinder Singh son of Pal Singh resident of Adarsh Colony, Sarna, Pathankot, Punjab was called for questioning. During questioning, he submitted a written complaint that on 30th March 2016, one Mohd Ashraf son of Mohd Yousaf resident of Sangote Chenani, driver of his truck, loaded 300 bags of sugar to be delivered at Srinagar. On this police party of Police Station Banihal took cognisance of a theft and a case vide FIR No. 39/2016 under section 407/411/301 was registered and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation, driver and his associates were rounded up and during questioning, they confessed to the crime.
Later the stolen 151 bags of sugar along with 59 empty bags were recovered from the store of two shopkeepers namely Ajaz Ahmed son of Saif Din Itoo resident of Kharpora, Banihal and Arshit Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed Gitoo resident of Main Bazar, Banihal.
