Police, public vow to fight drugs, crime together

JAMMU: To strengthen the police-public relations and to bring people nearer to the police for better output in prevention, detection of crime and solve the problems of general public, a Police Community Public Group (PCPG) meeting was held here at Shaheedi Chowk on Saturday.
Besides large number of respectable persons of area, SP North Dr Vinod Kumar, SDPO North Vivek Shekhar, SHO Pirmitha, Inspector Javid Malik and Incharge Police Post Gujjar Nagar, Sub Inspector Shamim Ahmed were also present in the meeting.
Appreciating the participants for sparing their valuable time to attend the meeting, the chairing police officer requested them to put forth their genuine problems.
Various public issues and problems pertaining to different departments were raised and discussed by the participants. The grievances of all the participants were heard patiently and they were assured that their genuine demands will be communicated to the concerned senior officers for early redressal. The participants assured their full support and participation in tackling any unlawful or untoward incident.
SP North Dr Vinod Kumar and SDPO North Vivek Shaker requested for installation of CCTV cameras in the area particularly the crime prone areas.
The participants were also apprised about the tenants’ verification and were also told about the drug menace and their role in tackling and eradicating the same from society. The participants assured their cooperation and assured that maximum of them will install CCTV cameras and intimate the police well in time about the drug peddlers and drug addicts in the area and will educate their wards about the consequences of drugs.
