Police constable among 4 die in road accidents

JAMMU: A police constable among 4 persons were killed in separate mishaps here on Saturday. A police constable died in a road accident on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Banihal area of Ramban district.
Details revealed that a private car, which was on way to Jammu from Kashmir, got skidded off the road near Rattanbass and rolled down into a 300 ft gorge. The driver of vehicle, identified as Altaf Ahmad Mir, a resident of Wavoora in Lolab area of Kupwara, was found dead by police and local volunteers. The deceased was working as head constable in police department.
Meanwhile, a bike was hit by a truck in Kanha Chak area as a result, the biker died on the spot. His identity is yet to be ascertained. A pedestrian was also killed near Thandi Khui area after being hit by an unknown vehicle.
A 20-year-old youth was killed on Saturday in a road accident near Qamaria Ground in Ganderbal district. As per details, Faizan Ahmad Para, son of Shamim Ahmad Para, resident of Beehama Ganderbal got critically injured when a speedy tipper hit his scooty near Qamaria Ground. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police have taken cognizance of the matter and further investigation has been taken up.
