PoJK DPs protest, project demands

JAMMU: Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir Displaced Persons’ Front held a protest here on Thursday against the non serious attitude of State Government towards their demands.
Carrying banners and placards, a large number of Displaced Persons led by Front president Capt. (Retd) Yudhvir Singh Chib gathered at Press Club Jammu and raised slogans in favour of their demands, which already have been projected to the State and Central Governments since a long time.
Speaking on the occasion, Chib said that DPs are waiting that the State Government will take expeditious measures to redress their grievances forever. He called upon all the organisations to get united and launch a joint struggle in near future.
Certain PoJK DP families have no records with them as they were left out at the time of partition, said Chib and demanded constitution of committee of officers to ascertain the details of such families and these families should be included in the general list of DPs.
He also requested the State Government to open a separate office on the pattern of PRO for those DPs who got shelter from Chhamb Area.
Chib requested all DPs to remain united and be ready for further struggle to achieve their goal for which they are fighting for the last 67 years.
Their demands included enlistment of left out families of DPs, grant of adequate compensation, maximum of Rs. 50 lakh per family except land, ownership rights for DPs of 1947, 1965 and 1971 (Non Camp) for evacuee property, etc, ALC certificates to all DPs of PoJK, reservations for their wards, reservation of 24 Assembly seats, compensation of deficiency land, old age pension to all types of DPs, etc.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Jai Pal Sharma, General Secretary, Sakandya Devi, President Women Wing, R.P Singh, R.S Chib, Ch Sukhjinder Singh, Kulbir Singh Chib, Pawan Slathia, Rasal Singh, Hari Singh, Babloo, Kehar Singh, Thoru Singh Chib, Kashmir Singh, Pargwal, Madan Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Vir Singh, Raj Kumar Verma, Bimla Devi, Rani Devi, Balwan Singh, Gittan Ram, Baldev Singh, Mohan Singh, Balwan Singh, Parkash Singh and Kuldeep Singh.
