JAMMU: The Displaced Persons (DPs) from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) on Saturday held a protest demanding implementation of the package announced by the Prime Minister and also against the Provincial Rehabilitation Officers.
A large number of displaced persons including women activists under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir PoJK DPs Front-1947, 65 and 71 assembled at Exhibition Ground near Press Club and started protest.
They demanded that process to implement package of Rs 2,000 crore announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi be started without any further delay. They also demanded that left out families of DPs be registered for package.
Rachhpal Singh Chib, President of the Front, demanded financial assistance of Rs 6 lakh to those DPs who were kept in Pak captivity
Chib said he himself raised the issue at various levels including Parliamentary Standing Committee on 13th July, 2013 but the Additional Commissioner Jammu and PRO Jammu have created barriers in the efforts made by the front and not allowed the case to move forward.
Left with no choice the front has ultimately resolved to file PIL in the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, he warned.
