PM's remarks on cow vigilantes outrageous, offensive HarshBJP must apologise for insult to ‘Gau Rakshaks’

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Taking strong exception to the remarks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi against cow vigilantes, Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP and former Minister, observed that the said comments had deeply hurt the sentiments of various cow protection groups besides a cross section of the society across the country.
He said that it was shocking to note that that the head of the nation should make such offending rather insulting statement that 80 per cent of the cow vigilantes were anti-social elements and that the states should prepare dossiers of such groups.
He said that equally astonishing was the statement of the Prime Minister that more cow die by eating plastic them by butchering. He said that the Prime Minister had further insulted the ‘Gau Rakshaks’ by saying that such groups indulged in crimes by the night and masqueraded as cow protectors during the day.
Strongly condemning the statement of Narendra Modi, Harsh said that while any group or association of people could have certain mischievous elements, it was highly offensive and unfair to dub the class of ‘cow protection groups’ as anti social.
He said that the PM’s statement that 80 per cent of such people are criminals and anti-social amounted to rebuking 80 per cent of Hindu population as all Hindus stand for cow protection and worship it. He said that by making such statement the Prime Minister had not only disappointed his avid supporters but had largely annoyed and offended them.
He said that the statement of the VHP Working President, Parveen Togadia that PM’s statement amounted to ‘social profiling of Hindus’ and that it further “amounted to clean chit to cow butchers” needed due attention of the Prime Minister. Reminding the Narendra Modi of his election time speeches wherein he accused the UPA Government of ushering ‘pink revolution’ by promotion of sale and export of beef and smuggling of cows, Harsh regretted that even the tallest leader of BJP had abandoned its philosophy and slogans merely for political considerations. He further reminded the BJP leadership that during Non-BJP Governments, it were the cow smugglers whose dossiers were prepared and they booked under PSA rather than preparing the dossiers of cow protections groups as ordered by the present regime.
He said that the government was well within its rights to deal with those who violated law, indulged in public nuisance or vitiated peace in accordance with the prevalent laws but dubbing the class of ‘Gau Rakshaks’ as anti social was highly insulting and outrageous and needed to be withdrawn.
He further demanded strict implementation of the laws on cow protection, beef ban and prevention of cow trafficking.
Cautioning the BJP to shun the policy of duplicity and deceit, Singh said that the people still remembered its dubious role in sacking two government advocates namely Vishal Sharma and Promokh Seth for having defended the law on beef ban. He sought an apology from BJP for insulting the cow protection groups.
