Pitiable condition of GDC Basohli forces students to protest

BASOHLI: The students of Govt. Degree College, Basohli boycotted their classes and came on the roads in order to protest against the pitiable condition of the college both academically and in matter of the infrastructure. The students came on the roads shouting slogans against the local administration for unheeding the problems of the college which has been suffering due to shortage of permanent teaching faculty, lack of basic amenities like potable water, electricity, laboratory facilities, library, sports and games. The agitating students protested in front of the SDM Court and Police Station Basohli and a group of the student leaders apprised them regarding the difficulties they have been facing since 2005 when the college started functioning at Basohli.
The studemts said that there are only two permanent posts in the college one of the college principal and the other of the Chowkidar, besides whole teaching staff is engaged on the contractual basis who attend the classes only once in a blue moon.
