JAMMU: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Sanjeet Kumar seeking pollution free environment in J and K, a Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan after hearing Advocate Jatinder Choudhary appearing for the petitioner whereas Deputy AG Ehsan Mirza appearing for the state, took serious note on the status report and observed that as the status report filed by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu is only repetition of the status report filed earlier without any steps taken-up for setting up the Solid Waste Management System and directed Divisional Commiss-ioner Jammu to remain present on 7th October, 2016.
It is worthwhile to mention here that earlier Division Bench directed respondents shall submit a report to indicate that steps taken for removal of garbage from the Katra to Bhawan and solid waste dumping sites identified by the competent authority for dumping and disposal of garbage removed from the city and steps taken to ensure that such disposal does not in turn cause pollution and nuisance for the people residing around and in vicinity of such sites and also directed Divisional Commissioner to file status report.
