DB directs State to implement J-K Water Resource Act 2010
JAMMU: The Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat on Wednesday directed State to ensure implementation of the provision of Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources (Regulation and Management) Act, 2010 in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against the illegal encroachment of a Nallah in Sainik Colony flowing towards Sharma Resorts from Haji Basti.
The PIL has been filed by the residents of Sunjwan and Sainik Colony, Jammu through Rashpaul Singh and others against the illegal encroachment. The Division Bench after hearing senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Veenu Gupta for the PIL whereas senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the State, directed the State to ensure implementation of directions in letter and spirit. The Division Bench said that failure to comply with the directions shall form the basis for proceeding against the government and its authorities. JNF
