PIB Jammu organises seminar and bike rally to promote WAVES

JAMMU: The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Jammu, in collaboration with the University of Jammu, organized a seminar and bike rally on Monday to promote the upcoming World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), set to be held in New Delhi from February 5 to 9, 2025.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness about WAVES and explore the role of modern technology in shaping the entertainment industry, with a focus on content creation and media literacy.

The Chief Guest, Vikramjit Singh, Secretary, Department of Industry and Commerce, highlighted the transformative role of technology in democratizing content creation.
He emphasized how emerging technologies like Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) have made content creation more affordable and accessible, empowering creators across the country.
Singh also pointed out India’s unique advantage, noting its multilingual market offers significant investment potential, making WAVES an ideal platform for showcasing creativity to a global audience.
Neha Jalali, Director of PIB Jammu, spoke about the interconnectedness of media, where content creation and consumption are closely linked.
She stressed the economic impact of content creation, particularly with the rise of OTT platforms, and the importance of policy collaboration across sectors to drive the industry forward. She encouraged attendees to take advantage of WAVES for learning, networking, and exploring the industry’s potential.
Manik Batra, Chairman of ASSOCHAM, discussed the rapid transformation of the media industry, highlighting its market value of $27.3 billion. He noted that India’s diverse landscapes, from Bollywood to regional cinema, position the country as a major player in the global content market, and WAVES will further strengthen India’s position as a global investment hub.
Prakash Anthal, Dean of Students’ Welfare, JU, expressed gratitude to PIB for the collaboration. He emphasized the importance of the media industry in India’s development, encouraging students to participate actively in WAVES to gain skills and showcase their talents.
In his address, Media and Communication Officer, Zakir Nazeer said India is poised to become a prominent hub for high-quality and cost-effective content development. He also briefed the gathering on 27 incredible competitions spanning animation, gaming, sports, comics and filmmaking under Create in India Challenge Season One.
The event concluded with a bike rally, flagged off from the University of Jammu campus, which traveled to the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in Bantalab.
The rally, with 20 participants, aimed to engage youth and raise awareness about WAVES and career opportunities in the entertainment sector. During a ceremony held on the IIMC premises, Neha Jalali and Regional Director, Dr Dilip Kumar jointly felicitated each biker. The participants of the rally were presented certificates of appreciation.
Earlier in his welcome address, Media and Communication Officer, Press Information Jammu Muzafar Wani highlighted that the Indian media and entertainment industry is experiencing significant growth, driven by changing consumer behaviour and technological advancements and the WAVES Summit will provide a platform for content creators and other media professionals to showcase their talent at national and international
levels.
