PHE temporary workers demand regularisation, strike continues
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Temporary workers of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department of the Jammu Division, who are on the Kaam Chhoro Hartal for the last five days, continued their protest against the non-fulfillment of their demand of regularisation of service and release of pending wages.
Due to the strike, the water supply to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan, Katra, will also remain affected.
The workers held a protest today under the banner of the All J and K PHE ITI-Trained/CP Workers Association in the Office of Chief Engineer, BC Road, here. President of the Association, Tanveer Hussain claimed that the services of the poor employees had not been regularised by the department, despite submission of numerous reminders.
“For the last 20-25 years, these workers have been doing their duty with dedication to ensure regular water supply to residents, but unfortunately their services are yet regularised by the department,” Tanveer said.
He appealed to the Governor N.N Vohra to personally intervene in their matter and instruct concerned authorities to take step for their regularisation.
