PHE daily wagers threaten to stop water supply

JAMMU: All J and K CP Workers Association on Monday threatened government that if it does not frame a policy for regularisation of CP workers and DRWs and settle land case within 15 days, they will lock up all the tube wells and stop the water supply.
A large number of CP and daily rated workers of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department assembled at Chief Engineer’s Office, B.C Road here under the chairmanship of Kulbushan Singh, Advisor of the Association and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
While addressing gathering, Singh said the CP workers are giving their services for last 15-20 years in maintaining regular water supply to the public and the government gave them only the wages of four months in a year.
During elections, he said, all party leaders promised them to frame a policy for regularisation but after the election they forgot them.
Singh further said that 2,300 people donate their land to the PHE Department for construction of tube well stations with the assurance that the government will provide them job, but after two years of their appointment they got not a single wage even.
Others who addressed the demonstration include Saleem Ahmed, Latif, Mohd. Aslam, Khursheed, Bir Bal, Kamlesh Kumar, Ranjeet Singh, Raman Khajuria, Mushtaq Ahmed, Parvesh, Ranjeet Kumar, Tara Chand and Faquir Chand.
