Phala Eleven wins Mohit Sharma Memorial Cricket Tourney;Slathia calls for channelising youth energies towards proper direction

VIJAYPUR: Phala Eleven won the Mohit Sharma Memorial Cricket Tournament by defeating Raya Eleven by 105 runs in 12 overs final match played at Raya in Vijaypur Assembly Constituency. In all 32 teams participated in the tournament, which was witnessed by thousands from the adjoining areas.
Congratulating the winners, National Conference Senior Vice President and former Minister Surjeet Singh Slathia described the well organised cricket tourney as a major event in the area, hoping this will inspire youngsters to make their mark in the game. He said such events were imperative in channelising the youth energy towards positive direction.
Slathia lauded the high degree of discipline and camaraderie shown by the players, as also the sports lovers during the tournament and said this could prove a motivating fractor for talented youth to showcase their talent. He exhorted young players to concentrate on the game and specialise in disciplines like batting and bowling, which will put them in good stead to face the competitive world confidently.
Slathia said sports present a unique opportunity to young boys and girls to excel and bring laurlers, not only for themselves, but also for the State. He referred to distinction achieved by Indian athletes in Rio during the Olympic games and envisioned a big future for the players belonging to Jammu and Kashmir State in various national and international events.
While giving away winners and runners up trophies Slathia said victory and defeat remains part of the game, which should be taken in sportsman spirit. He said sports forge bonds and helps in building camaraderie between players, which is imperative for success of the events of such magnitude.
He also paid tributes to Mohit Sharma and appreciated the organisers for their good work in managing the tournament in a better way.
Mohit Sharma, a 22 year old young student had died in a mishap. Besides a large number of sports lovers, prominent among those present to watch the finals included father of Mohit Sharma, Kasturi Lal Sharma, Daljeet Singh, Jogeshwar Singh Suchni, Balbir Singh Numberdar, Balwant Singh and Abhey Singh.
