JAMMU: The combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of JU retained the men’s trophy while women team from Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur emerged winner in the final of the Inter-college Table Tennis Tournament held under the banner of Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here on Friday. In the final, PG men trounced Government SPMR College of Commerce 3-0. The Results: Aman Dubey beat Sudhanshu Gupta; Abhinav K Sharma defeated Vinod Bhardway; Abhishek Arora trounced Aarush.
Similarly, in women’s category, GCW Udhampur outplayed GCW Parade 3-1. The Results: Parul beat Shahnaz 3-2; Purvi defeated Cho-Cho Nazma 3-0; Lalita lost to Farida 0-3. Reverse singles: Purvi blanked Shahnaz 3-2.
Winner teams were presented with the title trophies by Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof. Avtar Singh Jasrotia. Among others present were Ajaz Malik, Gagan Kumar, Sudesh Kumar, GWC Udhampur, Madam Suman Sharma, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Romesh Sharma, Vikas Karlopia and Bikram Singh.
The matches were officiated by the technical panel including Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Kumar Tarun, Rakha Ratra, Sandeep Khadotra and Narinder Singh.
