‘People’s support must to streamline traffic’

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir PDP, Zone President Jammu West, Puneet Singh Jamwal on Tuesday said that while government and especially the traffic department is observing Traffic Week in entire state, people must cooperate to make roads safe. He said that people must drive, park and use the available roads infrastructure judiciously to ensure hassle-free movement. He said despite coalition government’s efforts in developing roads, creating bypasses, deploying adequate traffic police, increasing vigilance and even introducing new equipments to check violations, people’s cooperation is imperative in streamlining the traffic scenario. PDP leader added that traffic police must exercise restraint in lifting vehicles from outside hospitals and health centres. He said that till adequate parking spaces are created in both capital cities people must be advised to park their vehicles at nearby available spaces. Urging both state and central governments to mull on introducing metro in Jammu and Kashmir State, he said that this step will ease traffic congestion.
