JAMMU: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association of Jammu Province expressed concern over the problems being faced by the pensioners as well as employees in the State. Association President, Y.S. Jamwal criticised State Government for formulating a committee of different parties legislators for the purpose to enhance perks/salaries of the ministers as well as MLAs/MLCs and their private secretaries.
The association members strongly criticized it and expressed great concern that a two-year ago in the tenure of former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah made the double enhancement in their favour so it is not justified to again and again enhance the perk of the self interested legislators.
“It is well known to everyone that a number of demands of the employees/pensioners and general public are pending viz daily wagers, SRTC/NHM Contractual Employees, removal of anomaly of clerks in their pay grade, enhancement of medical allowance, Anganwadi workers, merger of 50 per cent DA in the basic pension of employees /pensioners, announcement of Seventh Pay Commission report as well as the problems of the general public power/water crises and roads/lanes, health etc. The government has shown their empty hands and for which the public is crying and closing roads daily to address their problems,” the association stated.
The association leaders while addressing the pensioners alleged such move of enhancement of perk by itself and when the Union Government is giving the benefits to its central/state employees/pensioners so why it is not done by Union Government in such cases. Self interested move should be stopped immediately till the said problems are settled by the State Government, the association added. The association appealed to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to intervene in this cause of legislators at the earliest keeping in view the grievances of employees/pensioners and state general public and issuance of appropriate orders.
Among others attended the meeting B.S Jawmal, K.G Khajuria, Y.S Jamwal, B.D Verma, R.K Gupta, M.L Gupta, J.L Shatma, C.L Koul, Daya Singh, Bahu-ud-din, Balbir Singh, Gurdev Singh, Attar Singh, S.K Sharma, Suram Singh and Indu Bushan.
