PDP-BJP Govt neglecting ‘religious tourism’ in Jammu: Manjit

VIJAYPUR: Accusing BJP-PDP Coalition Government of neglecting religious tourism in the region, people in Ramgarh led by former Minister and Congress’s General Secretary Manjit Singh on Friday staged protest demonstration in Raika Morh area in protest against the deplorable and shabby condition of roads.
Led by Manjit Singh, the protesters blocked the road at Raika Morh for not repairing the damaged portions on Swanka Morh to Chamlayal via Swanka and Swanka Morh to Chang via Swanka roads.
Amid shouting slogans against the local MLA and PWD, the protesters alleged that the religious places in border area have been ignored by the government with regard to development.
During the demonstration, Manjit Singh addressed the protesters and alleged that the roads have been in bad condition yet the administration has turned blind eye towards the concerns of the people.
He said that the border tourism which is also known as ‘religious tourism’ in Ramgarh area has been facing discrimination from the present coalition which had claimed equal treatment to all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Taking a dig, the JKPCC General Secretary said, even as BJP is partner in the government has kept mum despite knowing that famous Melas going to be organised along International Border i.e. on 25th June at Baba Chamlayal and on 28th June at Swanka.
“The condition of roads is worse. One cannot ply vehicles on the damaged roads. Just few days have left to the famous Melas in two places yet no repair work has been taken up by the administration putting people to the suffering,” Singh alleged.
He said that in view of bad condition of roads pilgrimage also hits. “The government should order immediate repair work of the damaged portions of the roads to encourage religious tourism instead of working against it,” senior Congress leader said.
He threatened that if the roads are not be repaired within a week, the people would be forced to block Jammu Pathankot highway to highlight their demands.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion include Babal Gupta, Tirath Bhagat, Vijay Choudhary,Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat, Mohan Lal Sharma, ex-Sarpanch Gurjeet Singh, Capt Gurnaik Singh, Lambardar Dev Raj, Manohar Lal Bhagat, Panch Sajjan Singh, Rajinder Sharma, Satpal Jogi, Gurcharan Singh, , Raghuvir Singh, Panch Baba Ditta, Dharam Paul, Mohan Lal, Brika Ram and Balbir Singh.
