PDP-BJP Govt deceived border dwellers: Sadhotra
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Sense of deceit has housed the minds and hearts of the people living adjoining International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LOC), said senior leader National Conference and former Minister, Ajay Sadhotra while addressing a meeting of National Conference workers at Marh in which number of youth from BJP joined J and K National Conference.
Sadhotra said the civilians living adjoining border are our second line of Defence after our army. “It becomes imperative for government to encourage and support them. It is unfortunate that PDP-BJP Government in the State and BJP-NDA Government at the Centre have created trust deficit among border dwellers and till date government has not provided any land out of firing range where they could shift in case of border tension,” he stated. National Conference leader said that then National Conference Government headed by Omar Abdullah has recommended to the Government of India to allot 5 to 6 Marlas of land to each family living along border so that they could be shifted along with their families in case of any sort of eventuality. At present, due to escalation on border, the border people are feeling insecure and helpless, he said. Sadhotra demanded that people living adjoining International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LOC) be allotted 5 to 6 Marlas of land out of firing range to the people living upto 10 kms from International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC). He further demanded that border people shall also be given soft loans for construction of their houses on the allotted land.
National Conference leader demanded that the border dwellers were also promised to construct 20 community bunkers in the villages adjoining International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) but it is unfortunate that these bunkers have not been made and people are feeling disgusted and are angry. Sadhotra welcomed the youth who joined the party and expressed hope that their joining will strengthen the hands of Omar Abdullah. Those who joined the party fold were Manju Kumar, Pankaj Kumar, Raman Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Shubam Salaria, Naresh Kumar, Bhanu Khajuria, Kala Sharma, Vicky Sharma, Shammi Sharma and Pankaj Khajuria.
