Poonch : Hitting out at ruling PDP-BJP coalition in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress on Saturday said the government has failed on many fronts even after completing more than 100 days as “it was marred with controversies”.
“The PDP-BJP government has failed to take off even after more than 100 days as it has created lots of controversies and hatred between different regions and sections of the state in view of their contradictory and narrow politics,” Congress’ state unit chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir said.
Addressing party workers and public in this frontier district today, Mir said, “At the time of forming the coalition, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had claimed that it would bring the regions closer and secure massive financial support from the Centre.”
“It has miserably failed on both these fronts and as a result people of three regions are suffering,” he said.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief said that the party alone can ensure equitable development of all the three regions ? Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh ? with special attention towards neglected, remote and backward areas.
Mir said that Congress represents each and every section, region and religion of the society and has the vision, policies and programmes for welfare and unification of people of different shades.
“The party alone can ensure justice in every sphere of life and equitable development of all three regions and the backward and remote areas in the state,” the state Congress chief said. .
Mir said that during the UPA-led government’s rule at the Centre, there was a massive financial support for Jammu and Kashmir which saw large scale development.
“However all the development works done earlier have today come to a standstill because of the wrong polices of the current governments in the state and Centre,” he said.
The state Congress chief claimed UPA government had helped to set up separate tourism development authorities for Poonch and Rajouri and also sanctioned various educational and health institutions including a Medical college for the later.
Mir asked party workers and people to maintain secular fabric and traditional brotherhood at all costs and defeat the mischievous elements in the border belt and threats posed by communal and divisive forces in the state.
“The people of Rajouri-Poonch have suffered a lot during three wars in the past and the proxy war by Pakistan but always maintained communal harmony in the area.
