JAMMU: On 64th day of its continuous strike, the All J and K Casual Labourers Union held a protest at the Office of Chief Engineer EM and RE Wing, here on Monday.
Shouting slogans in support of their demands, the protesting casual labourers assembled near the Office of Chief Engineer EM and RE Wing, here and held a demonstration. They were demanding release of wages, regularisation policy and insurance for the workers. The union leaders threatened to further intensify their agitation and come on the streets if the government does not fulfill all their genuine demands. The demonstration was held under the leadership of State President, J and K Casual Labourers Union, Akhil Sharma who alleged that despite various requests made by them the government has turned deaf ear to their genuine demands for which they are entitled. They demanded release of pending wages from Wages Head, regularisation and insurance policies for workers, filling up the 5,000 posts which were sanctioned in the year 2010, ending discrimination with Jammu province workers and compensation to dead/handicapped workers.
