PDD casual workers serve ultimatum upto Oct 20 to fulfill demands

JAMMU: All Jammu Province Casual/ Need Based Workers Union of Power Development Department (PDD) on Saturday staged protest to highlight their demands, including release of pending salaries and regularisation of services.
Addressing the protestors at Office of Chief Engineer, Bhagwati Nagar, Akhil Sharma, President of the Union, slammed government for not keeping its promise to regularise casual labourers working in the PDD.
“Number of committees and sub-committees were framed by the previous government to resolve our long pending demands, but all these files are gathering dust in the secretariat,” he alleged.
The association also served an ultimatum to State Government to solve the issues before 20th October failing which the workers will go on fast unto death.
Union members unanimously decided that they also would march to New Delhi for their genuine demands.
They appealed to Central Government for releasing the special package in favour of casual/need based workers.
Other members of the union who participated in the protest include Shesh Kumar Jammu Province President, Sham Sharma Vice President, Sanjeev General Secretary, Sawar Khan Secretary, Ashish Verma, Vishal, Ashwani Kumar, Shamsher Singh and Simran Singh.
