PDD casual workers call off 193-day long strike

JAMMU: Casual and need based workers of Power Development Department (PDD) on Thursday called off their 193-day long strike after the government assured to resolve their issues within a month.
Akhil Sharma, State President and Sesh Kumar, Provincial President of PDD Casual/Need Based Workers Union are demanding regularisation of their services, pending payment of their wages and timely release of the wages every month under a proper wage head
“We have called off our agitation after the assurance of Commissioner Secretary PDD and Chief Engineer PDD Wing, Jammu that they will release their pending wages and regularisation policy starting from 1st April 2017 and hope that this time the government will take a decision to end years of discrimination with the daily wagers,” said Akhil Sharma.
