UDHAMPUR : Addressing a big gathering of people at Kallar, Independent candidate from Udhampur Constituency, Pawan Gupta condemned the crumbling state of civil works in the city. Criticising the poor quality of civil structures erected in Subhash Stadium, which collapsed even before finishing, he vowed to use his engineering knowledge and experience for improving the quality and longevity of the physical infrastructural work in Udhampur. It’s noteworthy that Pawan Gupta acquired his BE in Civil Engineering in 1980 from REC ( now NIT) Srinagar and has worked in construction sector for over 30 years.
He reflected on how upper reaches of Udhampur hold vast potential for tourism. To make use of the natural gift and promote tourism, it requires development of quality infrastructure. He regretted that sitting MLA has not been able to utilise the vantage point at which Udhampur strategically sits i.e., at NH-1A and Dhar road which connect the rest of India to Kashmir . He promised to create international quality infrastructure that will put Udhampur on the international map.
He further promised to promote Dogra culture through a cultural hub in line with Chauki Dhani in Jaipur to create a USP for Udhampur. This shall be besides cleansing Devika and promoting its holy stature. Further, the history of the town shall be promoted through history walks via Manwal, Krimchi, Jaganoo Fort, Rani ki Baoli etc. He also conducted meetings at Sayaal and Sateni.
