‘Pathetic approach of JMC adding to woes of people’

JAMMU: Expressing resentment against poor working of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), a number of residents of Puran Nagar, ward No 31 held a protest demonstration here on Sunday. They alleged that due to poor functioning of JMC, the Nallah passing from Vikas Lane to Puran Nagar has been blocked and dirty water is overflowing, adding to miseries of residents.
Flaying casual approach adopted by JMC authorities towards problems of people. District Vice President Congress, Som Raj alleged that despite repeated requests and phone calls made to CTO JMC, no action was taken on ground level for cleaning of Nallah. “Concerned officer only made false promises on phone by saying that I have noted your complaint and will take up shortly but no action is taken for de-silting of Nallah passing through Puran Nagar. The Nallah has not been cleaned for last four months and is full with silt and garbage, thereby causing health hazards for general public, especially in view of prevailing COVID-19 pandemic,” he asserted.
Som Raj urged JMC Commissioner to intervene into the matter and issue necessary instructions to concerned for immediate cleaning of Nallah, failing which people would be forced to come on roads.
Eminent among those who participated in the protest included Roshan Lal, Tarsem Lal, Pawan Kumar, Joginder Kumar, Shanku Kumar, Sat Paul, Raj Kumar, Shiv Dyal, Dharam Paul, Raj Kumar, Narinder Kumar, Nirmal Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Amar Nath, Rajesh Gupta, Arvind Kumar, Vishal Raj Sherdha, Jogindar Kumar, Ashwani Gupta, Preeti, Sushma, Parshant, Aryan and Manohar Lal.
