Udhampur: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief, Ghulam Ahmed Mir on Monday said that PDP-BJP Government has lost trust of the people, in a short span of ten months, because of utter failure of the coalition to fulfill their ‘tall claims’ during elections and their ‘opportunist’ and ‘contradictory’ stand on every important issue in the State.
Addressing a large gathering of public at Chenani Assembly segment of Udhampur District, PCC chief said that the present coalition partners have failed to respect their respective mandate of the people as they made a complete U-turn on their propagated policies and ideologies, for the sake of sharing power which has exposed the double standards of two parties.
The people saw historical betrayal of mandate by the two parties, who always stood as extreme opposite forces, as far as their approach to all core issues in the State are concerned, he said adding that their sudden shift and surrender dismayed and disappointed their respective electorate besides exposing their hallow and false commitment to their slogans always used by them to hoodwink the people.
“The explanation offered by both parties to join power can no longer befool people who are wise enough to understand their lust for power,” he said.
PCC chief said that the governance is failures writ large in almost every field, adding to the miseries of each and every section of the society.
The government has failed to ensure delivery at the basic levels like availability of ration, power, health, education sector and unemployment besides rehabilitation of flood affected people and the farmers.
The employees of different categories including teachers, daily wagers, casual and need based workers and other such categories of people are regularly seen on protests for their just and genuine demands.
This kind of situation has disappointed every common man who are already facing the brunt of ‘Achhe Din’ promise of Modi government, as the prices of all essential commodities and items of daily use have increased manifold. The ‘Suit-Boot Sarkar’s’ pro-rich and anti poor and anti farmers policies have already broken the back bone of poor and common man in the county.
On the issue of internal security, Mir expressed serious concern in the wake of terrorist attack at Pathankot where seven security personal have laid down their lives and over two dozen are injured to counter the terror attack.
Paying rich tributes to the brave soldiers, Mir said that the attack has raised serious concern viz-a-viz internal security and its handling by the Modi government.
Senior Vice President PCC Sham Lal Sharma questioned the BJP for its failure to address the aspirations of people of Jammu region, as the party always accused the State and Central Governments for not giving due treatment to Jammu. Now, when they (BJP) are in power, they feel that Jammu region has got its due in every sphere. They should fulfill the slogans, they used to raise, while in opposition. Their silence on all important issues of Jammu region speaks of their total surrender for power. The people seek answer from BJP, while the PDP has also shown a complete lust for power, when it joined hands with BJP, although, opposing tooth and nail its ideology and policies and programmes.
Former MLA and Senior Congress leader of Chenani Krishan Chander Bhagat raised the demands of the people of the area complaining about the lack of rations of prescribed scale for the past several months and failure of government to provide basic amenities to people.
