NEW DELHI: Activists of Arakshan Virodhi Manch Jammu (AVMJ) and India Against Reservation (IAR) led by Ram Pal Seth President AVMJ joined the protest demonstration organised by Anti Reservation Movement (ARM) against the reservation policy under the leadership of President ARM U.S Rana at Jantar Mantar, here.
Addressing the activists of anti-reservation organisations from different States of India, Rana said that reservation is a social evil causing separation and ill-will between different castes. “Reservation has been causing unrest among the youth and social activists of upper caste people”, he added.
He said that giving benefits of reservation was a short term arrangement for 10 years only but political parties for satiating their vested interests and to pursue vote-bank politics have lingered on the policy creating undue wedge between different sections of society.
He demanded that reservation should be abolished and special support measures should be adopted by the government for the welfare of needy and deserving belonging to all castes.
Rana said that ARM would approach upper caste political leaders besides all political parties against the policy reservation.
Kunal Sukla said that the provisions of reservation are against the Citizen Charter of UNO.
Ram Pal Seth, Dharamvir Singh Kushwah, Deepak Gaud, Sat Pal Sharma, Vinay Tapadia and others also spoke on the occasion. Later, a memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister of India.
