JAMMU: President, National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subash Shastri on Monday appealed to the political parties to make their stand clear regarding regularisation of the services of 62,000 causal/seasonal labourers/ad hoc and contractual employees so that uncertainty and confusion among the daily rated workers could come to end.
Addressing a rally of causal labourers here, Shastri demanded that political parties should incorporate their firm stand regarding the fate of these workers in their election manifesto.
If the particular party is sincere about the issue, they should make a commitment in the manifesto that it will take and settle the issue in its first cabinet meeting itself.
He said that State Government has not remained sincere regarding regularisation of daily rated workers adding that this will be a major political plank in the coming State Assembly elections and will be a pivotal issue in deciding the fate of many candidates in their respective constituencies.
Shastri urged upon the State Government to release all pending wages of causal labourers.
Release of pending installments of 17 per cent DA due from January and July beside enhancing the wages of working class to Rs 10,000 per month, implementing CP Fund scheme in all departments, declaring Seventh Pay Commission as a National Pay Commission and amending SRO 64 were other demands highlighted in the rally.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were Rajan Babu Khajuria, Pardeep Kumar, Paramjit and Sudesh Kumar.
