Parkash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh celebrated in Jammu with religious fervour

JAMMU: The 355th Parkash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh Ji – the 10th Guru of Sikhs – was celebrated with religious fervour and devotion across Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Despite the cold, devotees thronged the Gurudwaras to attend special prayers and sermons.
The main function in Jammu was observed at Digiana Ashram Jammu Guruduwara. A large number of Sikhs including women and children from across Jammu and adjoining areas joined the special prayers at Guruduwara.
The programme was held under the supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji of Dera Nagali Sahib according to the directions of Akaal Takhat Sahib Amritsar.
Thousands of devotees from all walks of life including high dignitaries and religious scholars participated in the function and paid their obeisance.
The Ragi Jatha of Bhai Balkar Singh Bir, Giani Bachan Singh Digiana Ashram Jammu, Ranjeet Singh UP, Harneet Singh Simbal Camp, recited Gurbani Kirtan while Parcharak Harvinder Singh of Gurdwara Amritsar, Balwant Singh and Fateh Singh threw light on the history of bravery and sacrifices of great Guru.
They said that Guru Gobind Singh, a spiritual hero and ‘Sarbans Daani’, fought against injustice and tyranny of rulers and created a third religion as against the decision of King Aurangzeb to make one religion of the two in the country, though Guru had to pay its cost by sacrificing his father, mother and four sons besides number of Sikhs. Harban Singh Ex Minister was also present.
The speakers on this occasion highlighted their demands which include, Punjabi language, allotment of 2 Assembly seats to Sikhs, enactment Anand Karaj Act, representations to Sikh in Service Selection Board and Rs 24.5 lakh the balance amount of one time settlement to Refugees of 1947.
Mahant Manjit Singh in his address said that the sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his innocent children who were cruelly martyred, is the alone example in the world. He thanked the Prime Minister Narinder Modi for giving cognizance to these sacrifices, declaring 26th December as ‘Veer Bal Divas’ dedicated to Sahibzada’s sacrifice and taking out a March Past on the Raj Path besides other announcements.
Mahant Sahib Ji also stressed upon the young generation to adopt the path shown by Guru Gobind Singh Ji and strictly follow his teachings.
Prominent among others include Mohinder Singh, Darbinder Singh, Rajinder Singh, Gajan Singh, Karan Singh Bali, Avtar Singh, Tejinder Singh, Ajit Singh, Chairman Transport Welfare Association and others.
