PARAKH-supported capacity building workshop concludes at JKBOSE

SRINAGAR: A five-day capacity-building workshop on Holistic Progress Cards (HPC) at the secondary stage and standardization of Question Paper Templates organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education, in collaboration with PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), NCERT, at Auditorium of JKBOSE, Bemina, Srinagar concluded on Friday.

The workshop started on February 3, 2025 with the aim to promote equivalence across education boards and train a cadre of paper-setters to implement the HPC framework at the secondary level. The workshop comprised training and hands-on activities and presentations focused on HPC at the secondary stage, techniques of assessment, decoding and analysis of previous question papers, developing balanced question paper templates based on HPC and introduction of a 3×3 rubric-based assessment system, featuring three levels of competency-basic, proficient, and advanced.
The training was conducted by resource persons from PARAKH, NCERT with participation of eighty educators drawn from Government and Private secondary schools JKSCERT, DIETs across all districts of Kashmir Division of JKUT. The themes and activities of the five-day long workshop comprised HPC in light of NEP 2020 and NCFSE 2023, integration of holistic progress card at secondary stage along with national credit framework; equivalence of boards report (QPT analysis) under the aegis of nep and ncf-se; assessment, types, tools and techniques as per NEP 2020, NCF-SE at different stages; deconstruction of previous year question papers to outline assessment framework, design and blueprint; question paper setting, assessment design, blueprint, marking scheme, question paper analysis moderation and evaluation; development of assessment design.
Expressing his gratitude to PARAKH, NCERT during the valedictory function, Prof Parikshat Singh Manhas, Chairperson JKBOSE stressed the need for creating sync and harmony between learning and assessment at the secondary stage. He reiterated that the educators trained in the workshop shall carry forward their learning to the grassroots.
Sudershan Kumar, Secretary JKBOSE conveyed satisfaction on the successful conduct of the workshop and hoped that this initiative will go a long way in shaping the future of education system in JKUT.
Prof Sudhir Singh, Director Academics, JKBOSE thanked PARAKH, NCERT, especially the resource persons who imparted training during the workshop effectively and to the satisfaction of the participants. He expressed hope that the beginning made in the workshop shall auger well for implementation in the schools of the UT. Dr Arif Jan, Deputy Director Academics, JKBOSE-KD delivered the summary report of the workshop and the valedictory function concluded with a vote of thanks and distribution of certificates to the participants.
The valedictory function was attended by Dr Aliya Qayoom, Assistant Director Academics, Dr Naila Neelofar, Assistant Director Academics and Shakeel Ahmad, Assistant Secretary while Iftikhar Imran, Academic Officer conducted the proceedings.
