“Op Sindoor not over, only suspended”

POONCH: In a high-stakes and intensively coordinated military campaign, the Indian Army’s Poonch Brigade emerged as the core operational force during Operation Sindoor, aimed at neutralizing unprovoked aggression and terror-sponsored escalation by Pakistan across the Line of Control (LoC).
Stating this while interacting with media persons on Tuesday, Brigadier Mudit Mahajan, Commander of the Poonch Brigade emphasized that the Indian Army was not caught off guard, but rather “prepared to respond” to any form of hostility.

“We did not wait to react; we prepared to respond. To that extent, I will say that Poonch Brigade was not a part but the heart of Operation Sindoor” he said, underlining the critical role his brigade played in the recent hostilities.
Brigadier Mahajan detailed how the Army’s initial response was carefully calibrated and focused solely on eliminating terrorist infrastructure.
“The Army struck with unmatched precision and purpose-six of nine critical terrorist targets struck were opposite Poonch, Rajouri and Akhnoor. These were neutralized effectively that night,” he added.
However, the nature of the conflict shifted when the Pakistan Army escalated its actions, targeting civilian areas indiscriminately. This provocation triggered a robust and strategic counter from the Indian side, he said.
“Only when the Pakistan Army escalated by indiscriminately targeting civilian areas did the Indian Army decisively shift to hitting their military assets,” Brigadier Mahajan explained, making it clear that India’s response was proportionate and strategically justified.
A significant dimension of the recent escalation was the use of drone swarms by the adversary-an emerging modern warfare tactic.
Brigadier Mahajan lauded the Army Air Defence units, calling them the “shining shield” of the operation.
“As the enemy unleashed a new threat of drone swarms, it was the Army Air Defence that truly emerged as the shining shield-demonstrating exceptional skill, resilience, and cutting-edge coordination to intercept every aerial menace,” he said, and praised their unwavering commitment in safeguarding troops and territory with vigilance and valor.
Referring to the impact on the Pakistan Army, Brigadier Mahajan said the losses suffered were far more than numerical.
“Pak Army losses were not just in numbers but in morale and initiative. Today they have lost their credibility before their own nation,” he said.
He said the intelligence reports indicate heavy casualties-both fatal and non-fatal-on the enemy side, and these figures are “still adding up with each passing day” as verification processes are underway.
When asked about the current status of the operation, Brigadier Mahajan was candid: “Op Sindoor is not over; it only remains suspended for the time being.”
He reiterated the Army’s readiness to respond to any future provocation with unwavering resolve. “The Indian Army remains alert, ready-and if challenged again, we will respond yet again not with words but with fire and the resolve of the nation,” he concluded.
