Pak violates ceasefire thrice in Jammu and Kashmir, BSF jawan injured
Jammu: Pakistani troops on Monday violated ceasefire thrice by firing on forward posts along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Poonch Districts, leaving a BSF jawan injured.
“There was sudden unprovoked burst of fire from Pakistan side in forward areas along the International Border (IB) in Hiranagar sector around 11:20 AM”, a BSF officer said.
In the firing, BSF constable A.K Rabha, who was posted along the IB was injured, the officer said,
“BSF troops immediately retaliated to the firing which continued upto 11:30 AM”, he said, adding that the firing has now stopped and the injured jawan has been taken to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital.
Earlier, Pakistani troops fired upon forward posts along the LoC with automatic weapons and Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs) in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch District at 00:05 AM, PRO Defence Lt Col Manish Mehta said. Troops guarding the borderline did not retaliate.
The firing continued till 00:30 AM, he said adding there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the cross-border firing. Pakistani troops again resorted to firing by automatic weapons and RPGs for a brief period around 0600 AM, he said. There was no retaliation from this side but a high degree of alert was maintained, he said.
