JAMMU: A major fire broke out in a paint godown in Sant Market at Jewel Chowk, Jammu. The godown is right opposite Hotel Touchwood in a street adjoining Jewel Chowk.
On seeing flames and thick column of smoke coming out the godown, people nearby informed the fire brigade and in the meantime they got the nearby houses vacated as the godown was situated in a thickly populated area. Fire tenders reached the spot and controlled the fire after two hours thus preventing it to spreading to nearby areas. Thick column of smoke could be seen from a distance. The exact cause of the fire has not been ascertained. However timely efforts by the people and fire service personnel there was no loss of live.
