JAMMU: The spacious art room of JKPS Kunjwani witnesses plethora of artistic masterpieces, made by the members of Pablo Picasso Club of Visual Arts.
“The study of art is an outlet and can provide quite a few significant benefits to students. Art can relieve stress, which can be a new and intense emotion for children. Once engrossed in the art club activity, students get the opportunity to stoke their creative fires”, says the Art maestro Vijay Chandan.
“An art club is a place wherein students yearn to visit to explore the subtle nuances of art forms and hone their individual skills. From mixed medium to water color and traditional oil painting, students explore new frontiers, where their unique talents lie and explore new avenues of enrichment and expression”, reflects Gurpreet Kour, the Art teacher. Looking into the overriding passion of dozens of artists at JKPS, an Art exhibition has been scheduled in the month of January, 2023. Students are all agog with excitement, as top 50 artists and their 10 masterpieces each shall be put up on display in the first round of Art exhibition.
There are always some special feelings with artists, when they see their drawing framed, their painting glazed & their sculptures displayed in a professional manner. students find themselves on cloud nine and pleasantly surprised at the positive affirmations they receive from teachers and parents who may or may not have realised their artistic skills earlier!
Responding to the queries raised by some curious students, Neetu Sharma, Art teacher responded, “Artists have been asked to start collecting their masterpieces right from the beginning of the academic year. The student’s name, class and year will be written on the back of the works on paper. For completing the digital lists, students have started typing names on to a table spreadsheet for name tags.
They will print them out, laminate, and blu-tac or velcro the names on to their boards. During the winter break, artists will begin the laborious work of mounting and framing their work. If this job is tackled satisfactorily during the break, students will be pleasantly surprised to see the preparation, which is more than halfway there with most work ready for presentation”.
Principal JKPS Rajesh Rathore expressed his joy in the idea of conducting Art exhibition this year. “I know we’re all trying to create magic with minimal budgets, and decided to invest in some good quality frames in generic sizes. If we store them with care, these frames can be used and re-used each year and save our resources in the long-run”.
“The team is designing the layout of the display boards. The work is in progress: steadily and efficiently. Organizing a school art exhibition demands meticulous planning for months together. As we all chip in for sports carnivals, the same way it’s time to seek the favours from the entire team! It will be a great experience for our senior students to contribute their best. From designing invitations to moving artworks in and out of the art room, to matching name tags to artworks, senior students will be of great help. Unity is power”, added the Principal.
“The WhatsApp group of Pablo Picasso Club of Visual Arts is flooded with many artistic masterpieces every day. Brilliant strokes and themes fill the spectators with renewed joy and josh for a great Art Exhibition ahead. Looking into the postings made by the Art enthusiasts on a day-to-day basis, we may be compelled to organize the Art Exhibition in two phases”, concluded the Principal.
