Opportunity for BJP to win over neglected Jammu: Hari Om
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Now that the PDP has described the Agenda of Alliance as “sacred” for the party and insisted on its implementation in its entirety so that the vision of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for J&K is realized, it is opportune time for the BJP to say goodbye to the Kashmir-based and Valley-centric PDP and fulfill the dream of martyr Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee by integrating the State completely into India, former political advisor to the J&K BJP president, Prof Hari Om, said on Tuesday in a statement issued here.
“The Agenda of alliance may be an elixir to life for the PDP and people of Kashmir; it’s a deadly poison as far as the people of Jammu province, Ladakh region, internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus and refugees from Pakistan are concerned. They vehemently oppose it and abhor it and want the BJP to dissociate itself completely from it in the larger national interest as well as in the larger interest of J&K ,” claimed Prof Hari Om, adding that the BJP has everything to gain and nothing to lose by returning to the pre-May 2014 era, when the ideology and philosophy of Dr Mookerjee guided the BJP’s policy towards J&K and the nation as a whole. The BJP will gain massively in the State and rest of the country by pursuing Dr Mookerjee’s line, he said.
“The Agenda of Alliance is a dangerous document ever produced by any political party as far as J&K was concerned,” he said. He said that even a naïve would at once vouch for the fact that the Agenda of Alliance seeks to make Article 370 a permanent feature of the constitution, empower the J&K Government to exercise plenipotentiary powers, divide Jammu province into three regions on religious and ethnic line or pit the followers of one religion against the followers of another, return of the NHPC-managed, run and controlled power projects to J&K Government, withdrawal of AFSPA and PSA, vacation of land used by the Army for defence purposes, debar the state government from delimiting the assembly constituencies at least till 2035, absorb the already persecuted and hounded out internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus in the radicalized Kashmir Valley and deprive the refugees from Pakistan of their fundamental right to exercise citizenship rights in J&K.
The people of Jammu may or may not forgive and forget all the acts of omission and commission committed by the BJP during these ten months the way the people of valley may or may not forgive PDP for the acts of omission and commission committed by PDP during these ten months when they both were part of coalition government, said Prof Hari Om.
He expressed hope that the BJP will seize the opportunity as provided by the PDP and work with single-minded devotion for the complete integration of J&K into India and empowerment of the neglected people of Jammu province, including over 1.5 million refugees, all victims of fanaticism. This is what the people of Jammu province expect of the BJP, he claimed.
