REASI : One person was killed and seven others injured, two of them seriously, when the vehicle they were travelling in, skidded of the road and fell into a gorge in Reasi District today.
A Tata Sumo bearing registration No JK02AJ-6701 which was on its way to Reasi from Mahore met with an accident near Ladh Mahore in which one person was killed and seven including the driver were injured, a police officer said.
All the victims were immediately shifted to local hospital. Three of them whose condition was critical, were evacuated to Sub District Hospital Mahore but one of them identified as SPO Abdul Qayoom belt No 255 posted at Police Post Dewal, succumbed to injuries.
Other injured including Mohd Shafi son of Ali Mohd and Gulzar Begum wife of Manzoor Ahmed were evacuated to Mahore while Mohd Rafiq son of Abdul Gani Lone, Mushtaq Ahmed son of Samdu, Imran Ahmed son of Bahar Din, Irshad Ahmed son of Mushtaq Ahmed and Manzoor Ahmed son of Gullane Malik, Driver were admitted in the local hospital.
Meanwhile; Former Minister and senior National Conference leader Abdul Gani Malik on Saturday expressed deep grief and shock over the tragic road mishap in Village Lad of Mahore in Reasi district.
He expressed grief over the death of Abdul Qayoom, SPO in the accident and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. He prayed for peace to the departed soul and early recovery of seven people injured in the mishap.
Soon after receiving the information, the former minister took up the matter with the district administration and urged for specialized treatment of the injured. He also sought air-lifting of the seriously injured persons to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu.
Malik expressed satisfaction over the air-lifting of four of the injured for specialized treatment in Jammu and prayed for their recovery.
He also sought ex-gratia relief to the next of kin of Abdul Qayoom and interim relief to the injured, besides free treatment to them. He expressed solidarity with the families whose dear ones have been injured in the accident.
