One dies, six injured in accident in Mandi

POONCH: A heartbreaking road accident occurred today in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district at around 3:20 PM, resulting in the death of a young boy and injuries to six others.

The incident took place when a Tata Mobile vehicle, traveling from Sawjian to Narian, lost control and crashed upon reaching Narian village.
The deceased has been identified as Mohd Tofeeq, son of Mohd Mushtaq, a 12-year-old boy from Gagrian. He was immediately rushed to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Mandi, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The accident also left six people injured, all residents of Gagrian. The injured individuals have been identified as Dhawad (13-14 years), son of Mohd Ashraf, Mohd Rafiq (26 years), son of Abdul Ahad (Driver), Mohd Hafiz (12 years), son of Mohd Shabir, Farzan Ahmed (10 years), son of Shabir Ahmed, Irfan Ahmed (5 years), son of Mohd Ibrahim, and Imtiaz Ahmed (10 years), son of Mohd Ibrahim.
Following the accident, all injured victims were provided first aid at SDH Mandi. Due to the severity of their injuries, four of them were later referred to District Hospital Poonch for advanced medical treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. While the exact reason is yet to be determined, preliminary assessments suggest factors such as road conditions, overspeeding, or driver error may have contributed to the tragic incident.
The local community is in shock and mourning the loss of young Mohd Tofeeq. Further updates regarding the investigation and the condition of the injured are awaited.
