On Nirjala Ekadashi, take a pledge to plant a tree in life: Bhalla

JAMMU: Working President of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee and former minister Raman Bhalla had said that the way the temperature has crossed 44 degrees in some districts of Jammu division this time, it is a warning for all of us that if we still do not start planting trees, then in the coming one or two years, the temperature in Jammu will also exceed upto 50 degrees.
Raman Bhalla reached Chib Mohalla of Kunjwani on Tuesday on the account of Nirjala Ekadashi to distribute cold and sweet water (Chhabil) to passersby set up by the Shiv Mandir Committee. Talking to journalists, Raman Bhalla said that Nirjala Ekadashi has been a great significance in Hinduism, today people quenched people’s thirst by distributing Chhabils everywhere.
He said that the way trees has been cut in the last few years has caused a change in the weather, and the result is that the heat is increasing year after year. He said that today on Nirjala Ekadashi, we are earning virtue by setting up a Chhabil of cold water here. Along with this, we should also take a pledge that we all must plant a tree in our life so that our future generations can live a clean and better life. He said that the rains will start after a month and the rainy season is the best time to plant trees. He said that we all should start planting trees from our homes first and inspire other people to do the same. On this occasion, many dignitaries of the area including State Congress Committee General Secretary and former Chairman of Jammu Municipal Corporation Satish Sharma, Swarn Chib Sanjay Sharma were present with him.
