Old, destitutes deprived of Aadhar cards

JAMMU: Despite making lot of noise over extending the Adhaar card base,several thousand needy physically challenged, widows, and old age pension holders have been deprived of this facility till date in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Minister Incharge Social Welfare Department 44836 people drawing pension under Indira Gandhi Old Age  Pension Scheme from Kashmir valley and 36,624 pensioners from Jammu region have been deprived of Adhaar card facility. Similarly 49,968 old age pensions, 53,581 widows and 45,722 physically challenged persons in Kashmir valley have been deprived of Adhaar card facility while 27,022 old age pensioners, 2,852 widows and 2,4885 physically challenged persons are deprived of adhaar card from Jammu region
According to the written reply, Budgam district in Kashmir valley had highst number of pendency among pensioners under IGNOAPS while Jammu district figured on top across Jammu province.
Similarly, lakhs of poor people are still awaiting to get themselves registered for availing these pension schemes. According to the reply 44,005 cases of people across kashmir region are pending under IGNOAPS, 2431 under IGNWPS and 1,618 under IGNDPS while 65,097 cases of widows, old age and physically challenged are pending in Kashmir region.
In Jammu 46,237 cases of pension are pending while 54,250 cases of old age, widows and physically challenged are pending across Jammu province.
