Jammu: A married lady was arrested for allegedly throwing acid on her lover in Kathua district.
“A woman identified as Babli Devi,34, wife of Mukhtyar Singh, resident of Lakhri, Billawar, was arrested for her involvement in the case of acid-attack on one Vishal Verma of the same village,” police here said.
They said that the accused lady was a neighbour of the victim and had illicit relations with him for the past six years.
“The victim was engaged and was scheduled to get married on February 28 but the accused lady did not want him to marry following which she called him at her residence on February 16 and threw acid over his body,” police said.
She wanted to deform his face, they said.
“The victim had a narrow escape and was provided first aid while the lady was apprehended and case under relevant sections was registered against her,” added police.
