NZ Divyang Cricket Tourney begins at JU

JAMMU: Two-day North Zone (NZ) Cricket Tournament for Divyang cricketers got underway at University of Jammu (JU) ground here on Saturday.
The event is being organized by Disability Initiatives (JU), Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan (UBA) JU chapter and Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU in collaboration with Divyang Cricket Team of J&K.
In today’s two scheduled matches, J&K and Uttar Pardesh (UP) won their respective matches. While J&K defeated UP in the first match, Himachal Pradesh lost to UP in other game of the day.
In total, three teams, representing the Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and host J&K, are participating in this event which was declared open by chief guest, Prof. Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs (DAA), JU. Prof. Jasbir Singh, convener UBA-JU was the guest of honour. Speaking to the gathering, Prof. Padha applauded the efforts of the Disability Initiatives unit for organizing a sports event for the Divyang community. Prof. Jasbir Singh, convener (UBA) mentioned that it was a proud moment for the JU.
Sunita Kashyap, Chairman Divyang Cricket team J&K thanked JU for hosting the event. Sandhya Dhar president JIGER also made significant contribution towards the organization of the cricket tournament. Technical committee of the tournament is headed by Raj Kumar, cricket coach of JU. Prof. Namrata Sharma, Dr. Suresh N. Rao, Dr. Hema Gandotra, Dr. Shallu Sehgal also graced the inaugural ceremony.
