Numberdar among 2 killed in accident, people protest

NOWSHERA: A Numberdar among two persons were killed on Friday in two separate accidents in Nowshera.
One person was killed during a head-on collision between a truck and matador near village Dhalle on Jammu – Poonch National Highway late in the evening on Thursday.
According to report a truck bearing registration No JK02AG-0865 which was on its way from Poonch to Jammu collided with a matador bearing No JK02BC-6504 coming from the opposite side near village Dhalle, 12 kilometers from Nowshera in which the driver of the truck was seriously injured.
The injured identified as Liaqat Ali son of ohd Amin resident of Serhi Khwaja, Poonch was shifted to Sub District Hospital Nowshera but due to his critical condition he was evacuated to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu. The patient succumbed to injuries enroute and his body was later handed over by police to the family members after completing legal formalities on Friday.
Meanwhile a strong protest was held by the residents of village Sangpur against the killing of Numberdar Satnam Sharma (40) by an over speeding car on Thursday.
According to information the Numberdar Satnam Sharma who was standing on the road side was hit by a rashly driven car bearing registration No JK11A-6092 and seriously injured. He was immediately shifted to Sub District Hospital Nowshera, but succumbed to injuries. After completing the legal formalities his body was handed over to his family members but the villagers kept his body on the National Highway and blocked the road. They demanded immediate arrest of the driver of the vehicle who after hitting Numberdar, fled from the site.
SDM Nowshera Harbans Lal Sharma, Tehsildar Sania Malik and SHO reached the spot and pacified the protesters. SDM Nowshera assured them that the driver will be arrested at the earliest and stern action will be taken against him under law.
On the assurance of SDM the villagers shifted body of the deceased Numberdar and the National Highway was opened after three hours.
