KISHTWAR: Accusing government for spoiling the careers of students, National Student’s Union of India (NSUI) on Thursday held a protest in Kishtwar in favour of students of Jammu and Kashmir who are studying outside the State and suffering under Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) against the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD).
Leading the protest rally Prakash Singh Dadwal District President NSUI Unit Kishtwar along with scores of NSUI activists took the protest rally from Dak Banglow Kishtwar to the office of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and staged Dharna outside the D C office.
While accusing the Central Government, Dadwal said that the scheme was envisaged in 2010 by UPA Govt. through which thousands of students of J and K were enrolled in different colleges outside the State, so that students of Jammu and Kashmir belonging from economically weaker section are trained by different courses.
” Students were assured that the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) would pay their fees, but unfortunately, the college authorities are demanding fees from them as MHRD have not sanctioned the amount of scholarship in their favour.” He said.
Dadwal informed that due to this reason Harlal Institute of Management and Technology (HIMT) in Greater Noida, New Delhi have not issued the admit cards of certain students in order to prevent them for sitting in exams and till now two papers have been missed by them. He also claimed that some students have been returned by these institutions mid way without completing their courses which have spoiled the precious career of the students.
He threatened that NSUI will not tolerable injustice with students, if the problems of students are not solved, NSUI will continue its protest not only in J&K but throughout the country.
However, after the assurance of administration the Dharna was called off and memorandum in this regard was later submitted to the Deputy Commissioner. Dhadwal forwarded a letter to Divisional Commissioner Jammu for early action.
Prominent NSUI activists present in the protest included Aaga Shaie President Polytechnic Kishtwar, Vikas Parihar General secretary, Aarif Majeed, Idries Malik, Akshay Shan, Sanjay Thakur, Waseem Ahmed, Pawan Dogra, Zea Ul Rehmaan, Shivam, Bashir Lone, Ajay Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Mushaid Ahamed, Asif Rasool, Rasim Sharief, tasleem Ahamed and Amit Rana.
