UDHAMPUR:The Panthers Party workers on Wednesday held a protest outside the office of R&B (PWD) Division Udhampur alleging irregularities, omissions and commissions in the working of the department. The protest led by Dharam Singh Bittu, Sarpanch and Tehsil President Majalta and Rajesh Sharma Sarpanch and Youth President Majalta.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Sharma flayed the R&B Department for abandoning the Battal-Mansar mecademization work despite the funds for the scheme having been sanctioned during 2014.
He further rebuked the department for allotting works to its favorites without going through the codal formalities of tendering the same. He said that several blue eyed persons of politicians especially MLA Ramnagar had been allotted works without tenders and threatened to expose the politician contractor nexus in the area.
Dharam Singh accused the R&B Division Udhampur of flouting the guidelines of the Finance Department with regard to execution of works.
He said that while the R&B Deptt. was neglecting the panned works, it was executing some new works which were nowhere included in the plan and for which no financial provision had been made.
He said there were already several complaints and enquires against the R&B Division Udhampur for withdrawal of funds against nonexistent works besides diversions of funds to satisfy the motives of interested groups.
The Panthers works warned to Gherao the Minister works as well as the Chief Engineer and other officers of R&B in case the upgradation of Battal Bazar road and Battal Mansar road was not initiated immediately.
Others who spoke in the occasion included Karnail Singh Sarpanch, Balwant Raj Sharma Sarpanch, Bodh Raj Sarpanch, Makhan Lal Sarpanch, Dina Nath Sarpanch, Jagdev Jagga Youth President District Udhampur, Purshotam Singh Vice President Young Panthers District Udhampur and Baldev Mankotia Block President Majalta.
