NPP demands judicial probe, action against culprits

JAMMU: Condemning killing of S. Jagjeet Singh in Jammu yesterday during a protest, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party demanded high powered judicial inquiry and a compensation of Rs.1 crore to the family of the deceased.
Chief Patron NPP and Member of NIC, Bhim Singh, Chairman-JKNPP, Harsh Dev Singh and President, Balwant Singh Mankotia, in one voice said, “Right to protest, express views and right to speech is fundamental right of every citizen and its denial is an offence.”
The NPP leaders accused PDP-BJP government for creating such a situation in the peace-loving City of Temples by such dastardly acts to divert the attention of the citizens in Jammu from the real issues and upper most is the AIIMS.
“The latest Bandh observed in Jammu in one voice and unity demonstrated by the residents of Jammuites had shaken the Coalition Government,” they said adding that this outrageous act of gunning down a young man was aimed to create tension and disturbed harmony.
The NPP leaders made an appeal to the people of Jammu from all walks of life to keep their centuries’ old tradition of communal harmony which has been a cultural entity of the people of Jammu.
