Notorious criminal detained under PSA, used to loot railway passengers by offering tea mixed with sedatives

JAMMU: A notorious criminal was detailed under Public Safety Act (ACT) on the recommendations of GRP Jammu. As per an official statement, cops of GRP and RPF in a joint operation apprehended a hardcore notorious criminal namely Angoor Choudhary, son of Nagina Choudhary, resident of Bishan Purba,Ward-4, Post office B B Bankataba, Police Station Bathbadia, Champaran, Bihar on September 22, 2022. Soon after receiving information about presence of notorious criminal within premises of Railway Station Jammu, he was apprehended along with two railway passengers, who were allegedly served tea mixed with some sedative substances by the accused, rendering them unconscious. During questioning, the accused revealed how treacherously he used to dupe innocent railway passengers. His modus operandi was to first lure passengers and make them unconscious by offering them tea mixed with some sedative substances and thereafter looting all money, jewellery and other valuables. His criminal record manifests that he is a substantial threat to railway passenger security and was found a fit case to be recommended for PSA. Accordingly, a dossier was prepared by GRP Jammu incorporating detailed summary of all the unlawful activities carried by Angoor Choudhary and sent to Deputy Commissioner Jammu with recommendation/request to issue orders for detaining him under PSA. In consonance with the recommendation of GRP Jammu, District Magistrate Jammu issued the order for detaining Angoor Choudhary under PSA.
